Welcome to blanchardtrombone.com.

This site is dedicated to trombone players and pedagogues. I have spent several months researching and experimenting on the topic of the Valsalva Maneuver. I believe this is a topic that a large majority of players deal with at some point of a professional career, but there is too little information available to those struggling. Many fear that reading about mechanical problems can cause mechanical problems. This may be true, but those that are already suffering the effects of psychological and physical road-blocks need immediate help.

For this reason I have set up this website as a center of information on the Valsalva maneuver. I have written my story, which at this time I deem a success. Many others have also been successful in their recovery from the effects of the Valsalva. My tips and those of other successful brass players are included on this site as well as information about physiological processes involved in brass performance. I have also included information from my research on teaching legato to amateur trombonists.

I hope you enjoy this site. If you have questions or comments please see my "contact" page.
